America has far greater problems to worry about than violence and tits and arse on TV.

PTC Urges Democrats and Republicans to Focus on TV Decency, Cable Choice
LOS ANGELES (August 26, 2008) – The Parents Television Council™ urged both the Democrats and Republicans to focus on entertainment issues of concern to parents as both parties prepare for their conventions in the next two weeks.
“Being that millions of parents are deeply concerned at the messages being directed towards their children on television, we expect that both parties will establish clear positions on issues of broadcast decency and consumer cable choice. Our 1.3 million members, who hold a variety of political positions, can all agree that there needs to be some level of responsibility on the entertainment industry to help ensure that their children are not constantly assaulted by sex, violence and profanity on television and in other media,” said PTC President Tim Winter.
“We expect that no matter who is elected in November, the new president will nominate FCC commissioners who are committed to enforcing federal broadcast decency law; help to ensure that citizens will continue to have their voices heard at the FCC when it comes to indecent content that airs on broadcast television; and that consumers will be able to choose and pay for only the cable networks they want so that they do not have to subsidize networks they do not want or do not watch.
“A majority of Americans (79%) agree that there is too much sex, violence and coarse language on television.* Yet the broadcast networks are trying to get that landmark Supreme Court affirmation of decency reversed. It’s clear that the networks will argue anything to try to subjugate the law and ignore the will of the people.
“Senator McCain has already been a leader of providing consumer cable choice, and the Democrats have addressed other issues in their platform. We hope the Republicans will also make these issues a top priority on their platform.
“They may agree on little else, but we hope that both parties will echo a common sense commitment to restoring a culture of decency and responsibility in our country,” Winter concluded.
“Being that millions of parents are deeply concerned at the messages being directed towards their children on television, we expect that both parties will establish clear positions on issues of broadcast decency and consumer cable choice.”
Why are millions of American parents “deeply concerned” at the messages being directed towards their children on TV? Is American TV telling children to start illegal wars for oil and money or to drop bombs on millions of innocent people’s heads to settle a score their Daddy started a few years ago?
Ohhh the PTC are all for consumer choice are they? Oh yeah as long as consumers arn’t watching programmes they dissaprove of.
“Our 1.3 million members, who hold a variety of political positions.”
Variety of political positions. But most of them with Republican positions who no doubt supported George Dubya murdering thousands of Iraqis but will baulk at the slightest sight of a breast on TV!
“It’s clear that the networks will argue anything to try to subjugate the law and ignore the will of the people.”
Ahh yes the will of the people. The will of all the American people? Nah just God fearing Republicans who fear their children will be corrupted by the sight of a woman’s bare buttock on TV!
America is a nation in deep shit. One of the biggest gaps between rich and poor in the world, one of the highest levels of poverty in the Western world and currently involved in a pointless war which was supported by hardly anyone apart from rabid Republicans seeking bloody vengence for 9/11. Yet the PTC reckons who ever is made commander in chief should spend his valuable time worrying about breasts, bumbs and blood on TV. God save America!
